How it works
Two steps, and your website starts answering.
Show us the site is yours. Paste one line into it. That's your whole job — after that, a small chat button sits in the corner of your pages answering your visitors' questions, day, night, weekend, sale week.
You don't train it, write for it, or plan anything. It reads your website itself and takes its answers from there.
Your part
There are two things for you to do.
Reading your pages, learning what you sell, answering your visitors, keeping a record of every question — all ours. Your side of it is these two, and then you're finished.
Show us the website is yours
We hand you a small file with a private code inside it. Put that file on your website — the same way you'd upload a photo — then press Verify. If we can find the code, we know you're the owner.
It's also what stops a stranger putting a chatbot on your address and running up your bill.
Type that into a browser. If you can see the code, so can we.
Paste one line into your site
Your dashboard shows a single line of text with a copy button beside it. Paste it into your website's custom code box — the same one people use for Google Analytics.
One paste covers every page, forever. You never touch it again, even when you change the chatbot's name, colours or greeting.
Nothing sensitive in it — it only says which website it belongs to.
That's it. Your chatbot is live.
It read your website the moment you verified, so it already knows what you sell and what you charge. Nothing to train, nothing to write, no questions to think up in advance.
Start to finish
The whole path, spelled out.
Including the parts that happen without you. Your two steps are marked.
Create your account
Sign in with Google. No form, no card, no "choose a plan" — you land on the free plan and stay there until you decide otherwise.
Add your website
Two boxes: a name you'll recognise later, and your web address. A separate shop or blog at its own address counts as its own website here.
Show us it's yours
Put our file on your site and press Verify. Never uploaded a file before? This is the one part worth forwarding to whoever built the site — it takes them under a minute.
We read your website
The second that check passes, SparrowAI goes through your pages the way a new employee would on their first morning. Got details that never made it online? Upload them as PDFs.
Paste the line
Copy it from your dashboard, paste it into your website's custom code box. The chat button appears in the corner of every page straight away.
Read what people asked
Every conversation is kept, charted over the last 7, 30 or 90 days. The questions people type are the product you don't stock and the page you never thought to write.
Behind the scenes
What happens when someone types a question.
Four things, in under the time it takes them to look up from the keyboard.
We check where it came from
Before the chat window can send us anything, it has to ask for a temporary pass — and we only hand one out if the request is really coming from the website you verified. The pass runs out after ten minutes, and gets checked again on every single message.
We check your allowance
If this month's usage is already spent, the message stops here rather than quietly costing you money.
The answer is built from your content
Your pages and your PDFs — not general internet knowledge. Each website you add keeps its own separate knowledge, so answers never bleed from one of your sites into another.
The conversation is saved
Question, reply and usage are recorded against that website, which is what your analytics and your monthly meter are built from.
If it doesn't work
Verification is the only step that can fail.
And it fails in exactly three ways. Fix it and press Verify again — nothing is lost.
The file was found, the code wasn't
Usually an editor that added a heading, quotes or a trailing line. The file should contain the code and nothing else — downloading it from the dashboard instead of retyping it avoids this entirely.
We asked your domain and got nothing
The file isn't published yet, it's in a folder rather than the root, or it sits behind a password. Open the address in a private browser window — if you can't see the code, neither can we.
Your site took too long to answer
Nothing is wrong with your setup — the request simply ran out of patience. Wait a moment and press Verify again.
Questions
About the setup.
Where exactly does the verification file go? expand_more
At the top level of your domain, so that yoursite.com/sparrow-ai-verify.txt opens in a browser and shows your code. Not inside a folder, not renamed, and not behind a login.
Can I remove the file after verifying? expand_more
Leave it. It costs you nothing, and it's the proof that the domain is yours — the same convention search engines use.
Does the order matter? expand_more
Yes — verify first, then paste. Until a website is verified it has nothing to answer from, and the chat button won't be allowed to talk to anyone.
What about a staging or test site? expand_more
Add it as its own website — a different address means a different entry, verified separately. Each one counts towards the number of websites your plan allows.
How do I add knowledge later? expand_more
Upload a PDF from that website's Documents page. It's added to the chatbot's knowledge straight away, and deleting it takes it back out again.
Can I change how the chatbot looks? expand_more
Any time, on every plan — its name, avatar, greeting, colours, font and which corner it sits in. Changes apply without touching the script tag again. See everything you can set.
